Game Recap:

CCL vs O4

Our first game of the night saw the Capital City Lions taking on Original Four. In their first matchup earlier this season, O4 won by a score of 11-9. This was a big game for CCL as they were trailing O4 by only 2 points for first place. Just over a minute in a giveaway in the middle landed right on the stick of Dan Ballem and he made no mistake putting it five-hole on CCL netminder Steve Quach. Fast forward four minutes, Austin Perron makes a beautiful feed to Brock Murray who was sitting on the doorstep and made no mistake redirecting it past O4's spare goaltender Eric Carbonneau who was lights out with 54 saves on the night. Tons of action on both sides of the floor including some solid saves from Steve Quach who also faced a ton of action with 52 shots against. With five minutes left in the period Chris Stott fires the ball at the net and makes it 2-1 O4. At the half with the shots 32-28 CCL.

Only 13 seconds into the second frame Ballem nets his second of the night from Litt St-Jean. Only one minute later Perron snipes a beauty top corner to pull CCL within one. At this point Stott decides to take matters into his own hands and pots 2 goals in minutes for his first hat trick of the season and very impressive 9 goals on the season. Spare Jeff Squires would follow-suit when he absolutely undressed the CCL defender and goaltender to make it 6-2 O4. CCL would get one more off the stick of Devin McManus to pull within 3 but that was as close as they would get. Carbonneau was stellar on the night with some gorgeous saves and shut the door on CCL. With that O4 improves to a very impressive 6-0 on the season while CCL registers only their second loss to sit at 4-2 in second place in the league. Next week O4 will take on GEN X who are still searching for a win, and CCL will take on BUZZ.
